It is with much excitement that the Detroit City Center of IIDA MI announces the commencement of the ZeroLandfill pilot program this October. Our dedicated sponsor, Interior Environments, has provided us with space within their Taylor warehouse to carry out the upcycling process. We are looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help out with this endeavor over a 2 – 4 week time frame [1-2x per week]. All interested parties should contact the Chapter at zerolandfill@michiganiida.org by September 15th. Specific dates and times will be posted shortly after the training session for team leaders on September 1st.
About ZeroLandfill TM
ZeroLandfillTM is an award winning beneficial reuse program that supports the supply needs of local artists and arts educators while reducing pressure on local landfill capacity. Since 2006, the ZeroLandfill project team has assisted the architectural and interior design community in identifying, diverting from local landfills and re-purposing back into the community thousands of pounds of specification samples that hold value for other audiences. As a community of practice, ZeroLandfill projects inspired by the Northeast Ohio experience are at work in a number of cities across the country this year. BeeDance personnel support the program with training workshops, volunteer services and online marketing. Learn more about ZeroLandfillTM at www.zerolandfill.net.

Now is it up to us to make these Harvest Days a success and provide all local art educators and artists with the free material that we have kept from the landfill.
Please see below for the dates and times for each Harvest session. We need 3 volunteers for each session. If you are interested please email us, zerolandfill@michiganiida.org
