September 5 (Wednesday) 6:00 pm - October 3 (Wednesday) 7:30 pm
Join fellow designers of IIDA Michigan for a tapestry weaving workshop, hosted by Light Gallery + Studio.
In this workshop, you’ll be taught the basics of tapestry weaving using a plentiful variety of yarn and wool. You will learn beginner-level weaving skills such as how to wrap a loom, weave with a needle, hand weave with thicker yards, and how to make decorative fringe. To hone your new skills, you will work on completing a wall hanging, which measures 8″ x 10″ in size.
Each wall hanging comes with a wooden dowel to insert across the top for easy hanging and beautiful wall display! Each student will leave with one finished wall hanging, a handout with a recap of the skills, terms, and resources discussed in class, and the skill to design and produce additional weaving projects at home! Looms will be available for purchase for $30 after the class has concluded if you are interested.
To accomodate a larger group, the workshop will be held down the street at Avenue of the Arts Project Space. Alcohol cannot be served in this venue, however appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
Thank you to our generous sponsor, Carnegie Fabrics!
